canning

When I first started learning about canning my mind was just blown away. I still have a hard time feeling that it's totally normal to get a jar of already cooked meat from my food cellar and use it for dinner.

I couldn't find information that made me feel confident enough to use old time ways of preserving food in Sweden so I decided to make use of the information and equipment that are available in USA. I ordered a Presto pressure canner and Ball's blue book on Ebay and started to learn from videos and websites. Now I'm canning stew meat, soups and jams for my family. It's such a great feeling to fill up the shelves in our food cellar with food I've preserved myself.

I use a variety of websites and follow some YouTube-channels that provides you with information in english about canning. If you're new to canning I'm still not going to be able to give you all the information you need, but I know where I found it and you can find the links below.

What I can tell you is that I think it's a great way to make life a little better. I get to have food available for quick meals, it stores without electricity and you get to do it all yourself!
